How to convert text to Word
Paste text or open a TXT file
Choose a UTF-8 .txt or .md file up to 1 MB, or paste up to 200,000 characters. Review the imported words before converting. Markdown is kept as literal text.
Choose a title and paragraph direction
An optional title becomes a separate heading. Automatic direction follows the first letter of each line; you can choose left-to-right or right-to-left for the whole document.
Download and inspect the DOCX
Each source line becomes an editable paragraph. Blank lines and tabs are kept. Open the saved file in your document editor and check the final layout before sharing.
Notepad to Word: keep the words editable
Convert the content, not the file extension
Renaming notes.txt to notes.docx does not create a Word document. This converter packages your words as native Word paragraphs inside a DOCX file. Open that result in an editor that supports DOCX to revise, format or print it. It does not change your original TXT file.
What stays, and what needs editing
The converter preserves the text, source line order, blank paragraphs and tabs. It uses a simple A4 layout with Arial text. A dash stays a dash, and a Markdown heading marker stays a marker. It does not guess headings, turn lines into tables, embed linked pictures or reproduce formatting that a plain-text file never contained.
A notes-to-Word example you can try
These workshop notes are fictional and written for this page. Use the example button to inspect the converter without supplying a real document.
Original sample notes
Workshop notes Fictional example for trying this converter. Decision: compare the three poster drafts on Friday. Open question: the delivery date has not been agreed. Next step: ask the team to confirm the owner and date. Do not turn the open question into an invented commitment.
Check the unresolved question
After downloading, the delivery date should still be unagreed. The converter formats your existing text; it does not rewrite, summarize, translate or invent missing answers. Compare the last paragraph and the blank lines with the source.
Hindi, Urdu and other Unicode text
Start with UTF-8
When saving from Notepad or another editor, choose UTF-8. An unreadable or older-encoded file is rejected rather than silently replacing letters. You can instead open it in the original editor, verify the text and paste it here. The DOCX contains your Unicode characters as text, not a screenshot.
Review fonts and paragraph direction
Automatic direction chooses right-to-left for a line beginning with a Hebrew or Arabic-script letter, including Urdu, and left-to-right for other lines. Mixed scripts, numbering, joined letters and glyph appearance also depend on your document editor and available fonts. Choose an explicit direction if needed, then check the actual saved file; this page does not guarantee an identical layout on every device.
When to use another tool
Plain text is the starting point
This converter accepts pasted text and readable UTF-8 TXT or Markdown files. It does not import PDFs, scanned pages, existing Word files, rich HTML, spreadsheets or executable files. For a text PDF, use the separate text-to-PDF converter. To extract words from a picture, use an OCR workflow and check the extracted text before conversion.
DOCX and older DOC are different
The download is DOCX, the modern Word document format. It is not the older binary DOC format. If your recipient specifically requires DOC, use your document editor’s Save As options and confirm that the required format is available.

Frequently asked questions
Is this text to Word converter free?
Yes. Converting and downloading a DOCX is free, without signup, a watermark or AI credits. Use up to 200,000 characters and 10,000 lines per document; imported files must be at most 1 MB.
Are my text files uploaded?
No. File reading and conversion run on your device in the browser. This tool does not send the input into Brainbaby chat or save it to an account.
Can I convert Notepad notes to Word?
Yes. Save the notes as a UTF-8 .txt file, choose Open a text file, review the words and download the DOCX. You can also copy and paste the text directly.
Does it download a DOC or DOCX file?
DOCX. It creates native editable Word paragraphs rather than an HTML file renamed to a Word extension. Older binary DOC output is not available on this page.
Can I convert Hindi or Urdu text?
Unicode characters are stored as editable text in the DOCX. Choose UTF-8 for imported files and review fonts, joined letters and paragraph direction in your document editor. Layout and glyph appearance depend on the editor and device.
Does it rewrite my text with AI?
No. Conversion keeps your words. Brainbaby writing is a separate option requiring an account and the applicable allowance; the converter does not automatically pass your text to AI.
