Image to text: extract the words, then check them

Use a clear screenshot or photo you may share. Ask an available vision model in chat to transcribe the visible text, mark uncertain words and preserve numbers. Compare the draft with the image before reusing it. This page explains the workflow; it does not run a no-signup OCR converter.

A transcription prompt you can adapt

  • Keep extraction separate from rewriting

Transcribe only the text visible in this image, line by line. Preserve names, numbers, units and punctuation. Do not translate, summarize or silently correct the wording. Mark unreadable words [UNCLEAR] and identify the line to inspect. Separate columns if present. Do not add a missing date, owner or contact detail.
  • An attachment is part of the request

The prompt alone does not contain the image. Attach it in Brainbaby chat and check that the request includes the intended source. A clear instruction reduces ambiguity; it does not guarantee that every character will be read correctly. If the chosen model cannot process the image or the request fails, no completed transcription has been established.

Worked example: check the meaning of small numbers

This fictional notice illustrates a review, not a tested OCR output or a benchmark. It was written for this guide and contains no actual event or customer information.

  • Source notice

    Study session
    Day: Thursday
    Time: 3:00 PM
    Room: 12
    Book pages: 8–10
    Contact: not stated
  • What must survive the transcription

Room 12 must not become room 21. A time of 3:00 PM must not become 5:00 PM. Pages 8–10 are a range, not a count of eight or ten pages. The notice gives a weekday but no calendar date; the draft must not invent one. “Contact: not stated” must stay unresolved rather than becoming a plausible email address.

  • Ask for a focused correction

Recheck only the room, time and page-range lines against the image. Leave the other verified text unchanged. Mark uncertain characters rather than guessing. After the correction, list any lines I still need to check myself.

OCR, translation and PDF conversion solve different problems

  • A picture inside a PDF remains a picture

The local Image to PDF converter places images on pages. It does not recognize characters or make the words selectable. When you need editable words, extract and review the text first. When you need a text PDF, use the reviewed text as its source and inspect the saved file. For some scripts, Text to PDF uses the browser’s Print / Save as PDF route.

  • Translate after the source text is checked

Keep the original-script transcription and the translation as separate versions. A translation can change the apparent meaning of an already misread name or figure. State the intended language and audience, and check names, units and qualifications after translating. Urdu and other right-to-left text also need a reading-order check.

  • Another documented OCR route

Google Drive documents a desktop Google Docs conversion for compatible images and PDFs, recommends inputs up to 2 MB and lists Urdu among supported languages. Table and column formatting may be lost. That route uploads to Google and has its own service terms; it is separate from Brainbaby’s local PDF converters. Review the extracted text rather than treating the language list as an accuracy guarantee.

Professional Results

  • Start with a readable image

Choose the relevant section and inspect small characters, contrast and orientation. Retake a blurred photo when possible.

  • Ask for transcription first

Request the visible words before asking for a summary or translation. Keep uncertain characters visible.

  • Review names and figures

Check dates, amounts, units and addresses against the source. Fluent text can still contain a reading error.

  • Handle layout separately

Identify columns, headings and table rows. Verify reading order and each cell rather than assuming the original layout is preserved.

  • Choose the final language

State whether you need the original script, a translation or transliteration. Check mixed-language names and right-to-left text.

  • Keep a checked source

Save the image and reviewed text separately. Create a document or summary only after the transcription is checked.

Built for Every Workflow

  • A short notice

Check the time, location, names and missing details before drafting a reminder.

  • A permitted screenshot

Recover visible words for a reviewed note, keeping the original source.

  • Study material

Transcribe a relevant section you may use, then distinguish the source from your summary.

Simple as 1-2-3

  1. Open chat and attach the permitted image

Sign in, check the available image-reading model and account allowance, then attach a clear image. Private material needs an appropriate service and permission.

  2. Request a line-by-line draft

Ask for transcription without translation, added dates or guessed contact information. Mark unclear words and separate columns.

  3. Compare before copying or exporting

Review the source and output together. Correct specific mismatches, then use the reviewed words in the document or format you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a free OCR converter with no signup?

This is a public workflow guide. Image reading in Brainbaby chat requires an account, an available vision model and the current allowance. It is not unlimited OCR and does not run automatically when you load this page.

Can handwriting or Nastaliq always be read correctly?

No. Character shape, handwriting, resolution, lighting and the selected model affect the result. Mark uncertainty, retake unclear images and verify important words against the source.

Will it recreate the exact table or page layout?

Do not assume so. Review reading order, row labels, cells and headings separately. A transcription is text; recreating the original page design is another task.

Does image-to-PDF perform OCR?

No. The local converter puts pictures on PDF pages. It does not identify letters or create selectable text.

Can I summarize the extracted words?

After checking the transcription, ask for a summary of that reviewed text. Keep qualifications and missing information visible, and compare important claims with the source.

What should I check before uploading private material?

Use material you may share and remove details the task does not need. Check Brainbaby’s privacy policy and the terms for the service involved. This guide does not establish zero provider retention or a no-training promise.
