Download a Presentation: PPTX, PDF and Show Files
Downloading a slideshow is only half the handoff. The recipient needs a file they can open in the right mode, with readable text and the expected editability. Choose the format by the task: editing, reading or presenting. Keep a source copy before making alternate versions.

This is a planning document, not a finished PPTX, image or video. AI tasks depend on current account access and usage limits.
Choose the workflow
Choose the file for the recipient
PPTX is the usual editable PowerPoint presentation format. PDF is useful for a fixed-layout reading copy. A PowerPoint Show uses PPSX to open in slideshow mode in supported desktop PowerPoint. A PDF is not an editable slide source.
Use the export offered by your tool
Open the presentation’s export or download menu and choose an available format. In PowerPoint for the web, the download options differ from desktop PowerPoint. Do not rename a PDF extension to PPTX: that changes the name, not the file format.
Check the downloaded artifact
Open the local file, not just the online preview. Check the title, slide count, fonts, images, links and notes. Test on the application or device your recipient will use, especially if animations, video or custom fonts matter.
Worked example
Fictional handoff package: proposal-v03.pptx for the client’s edits, proposal-v03.pdf for reading, and a short note identifying the version and any font substitution. Store the original separately. If the recipient only needs to review the proposal, send the PDF with a clear response request rather than assuming they have PowerPoint. If they need to present without editing, explain the chosen format and test the actual file first.
Adapt this prompt
Prompt
Prepare a presentation handoff checklist for [recipient], using [application] on [device]. They need to [edit, read or present]. List the preferred format, an alternate format, checks for fonts and media, and a clear filename. Do not claim an export was created or tested unless I provide the file and test results.
Check before sharing
01
The extension and actual file type match.
02
The recipient can read every slide without missing fonts or cropped content.
03
Version, permissions, notes and any sensitive appendix are checked before sharing.
A mistake to avoid
An online preview can hide a broken download. Verify a local copy after the export and keep a fallback reading version when the handoff is important.
From the worksheet to the workspace
Fill in the worksheet with your own verified material, then open the relevant Brainbaby workspace. Review the draft and the actual exported file before sharing. The download itself does not run an AI task or use credits.
Check your account’s current allowance before generating. Image and video operations have their own displayed costs; account creation does not include a free image-generation or image-editing attempt.
Questions about this workflow
How do I save PowerPoint as a presentation that starts automatically?
Desktop PowerPoint can save a PowerPoint Show (.ppsx). Microsoft’s support page explains that saving as a Show is not available in PowerPoint for the web. Check the supported application before sending it.
Does changing the extension convert my file?
No. Use an actual export or conversion operation. Renaming report.pdf to report.pptx does not create editable slides.
