How to Create a Business Plan with AI and Real Evidence
Start with the decision your plan needs to support and the information you already have. Brainbaby can help organize the outline and questions, but a persuasive draft cannot establish demand, market size or a financial forecast. Keep the evidence, assumptions and next research tasks distinguishable throughout the document.
Step by step
Choose the reader and purpose
Decide whether the first version supports an internal discussion, a partner meeting or a funding conversation. State what that reader needs to understand. A short outline can be a useful first draft; it is not automatically suitable for every lender or investor.
Collect the supplied facts
List the proposed offer, intended customers, work already completed and sources you can share. Mark the dates of evidence that may change. Keep unconfirmed pricing, demand and costs in an assumptions section rather than letting the assistant fill them with convincing figures.
Prepare the outline
Ask for sections that connect the reader’s questions to the supplied material. Keep one main question per section and identify missing evidence. The SBA’s planning resource provides both traditional and lean examples; choose a structure appropriate to the actual task.
Create a research checklist
Ask which claims need further evidence and where to look for original sources. Read the material yourself and record the relevant date and definition. Do not treat an AI estimate of market size or customer demand as completed research.
Review assumptions and numbers separately
Use the actual inputs and identify who will check calculations or forecasts. Keep scenarios labeled as scenarios. If an input is missing, request it rather than presenting a generated number as a forecast. A draft document is not a financial review or a promise of funding.
Consolidate and inspect the document
Bring the reviewed sections into a consistent draft. Check that the summary agrees with the evidence and that open questions remain visible. Inspect the actual document and any available export before sharing it. Confirm the current account and editor requirements for the workflow.
A small example to adapt
These are original fictional planning examples. They are not a generated benchmark, a completed release or a customer result.
Example brief: a small business idea
Prepare a business-plan outline for a fictional café considering a lunch preorder service. Intended users: nearby office workers. Known facts: the café has an existing takeaway menu and a pickup counter. Pricing, demand, delivery costs and launch date are not confirmed. Include supplied facts, assumptions to test, research questions and a proposed next experiment. Do not invent customers, revenue, market size or funding approval. Return an outline for review.
Evidence register to fill in
Claim to check: Original source and date: What the source actually supports: What remains an assumption: Person responsible for checking: Next research step: Decision this evidence informs:
Review before the next action
Check each consequential claim
Trace facts to the original source and keep its definition and date. Separate an illustrative scenario from an observed business result.
Keep the unknowns useful
Unknown prices, costs or demand should produce a research task. Removing the unknowns from the prose does not resolve them.
Match the summary to the document
Check that the opening does not promise more than the supporting sections establish. Review the finished file before sharing it with a partner or funder.
Frequently asked questions
Can AI validate demand for my business?
No. It can help organize hypotheses and questions, but customer evidence and measured behavior are needed to evaluate demand.
Should I use generated market-size numbers without a source?
No. Check the original research, geography, date and definition. Keep a missing figure marked as missing.
Does a completed draft guarantee funding?
No. A document does not establish that a lender or investor has evaluated or accepted the business.
Can I make the plan into a presentation?
Use reviewed facts and an appropriate slide outline. Inspect the generated deck and actual export; account allowances and editor requirements apply.
