Research Presentation Template: A Conference Outline
A conference presentation is an argument about a research question, not a compressed copy of the whole paper. Decide what listeners should understand, what evidence you can support and how much time is available. Use your institution’s or conference’s requirements before a generic template.

Choose the workflow
Find the central research claim
Write the question, why it matters and the contribution in plain language. Distinguish a completed study from a proposal or preliminary analysis. Preserve uncertainty and keep the scope narrower than the entire field.
Build a transparent evidence sequence
Explain the design, sample or materials, analysis and key findings. Show enough method for the audience to judge the result, then direct technical detail to backup slides. Label units, denominators and uncertainty in every figure.
Prepare the discussion and delivery
State limitations before implying wider generalization. Include approved acknowledgements and sources, rehearse within the allotted time and prepare backup slides for likely method questions. Check the room’s display and the exported file where possible.
Worked example
Fictional eight-slide outline for a methods comparison, not a real study: 1. Research question. 2. Gap and contribution. 3. Design and eligibility criteria. 4. Measurement and analysis plan. 5. Primary finding, left as [insert verified result]. 6. Sensitivity checks or alternative explanations. 7. Limitations and implications. 8. Takeaway and discussion question. A proposed study should label slides 5 and 6 as planned analyses rather than manufacture findings to complete the narrative.
Adapt this prompt
Prompt
Create an eight-slide research talk outline from [approved abstract and notes]. Audience: [field]. Time: [minutes]. Preserve the research question, methods, limitations and source references. Do not invent results or citations. Separate main slides from backup material and suggest rehearsal questions.
Check before sharing
01
Every finding is traceable to the actual analysis.
02
Figures retain units, denominators, labels and uncertainty.
03
The talk fits the available time and meets the venue’s requirements.
A mistake to avoid
AI can make invented citations look plausible. Check references against the actual sources, and never fill a missing result with an attractive generic chart.
From the worksheet to the workspace
Fill in the worksheet with your own verified material, then open the relevant Brainbaby workspace. Review the draft and the actual exported file before sharing. The download itself does not run an AI task or use credits.
Check your account’s current allowance before generating. Image and video operations have their own displayed costs; account creation does not include a free image-generation or image-editing attempt.
Questions about this workflow
Can this replace the conference’s official template?
Use the official requirements when provided. This outline helps structure the story; it does not override branding, disclosure, format or submission requirements.
Is the template a finished scientific slide deck?
No. It is an editable Markdown outline and checklist. You must insert verified methods, figures, findings and references from your own work.
