# AI Client Project Timeline: Dependencies Before Dates

A reliable timeline explains what must happen before the next task can start. Give AI the agreed deliverables, realistic estimates and approval windows, then ask it to expose conflicts. A draft schedule helps a discussion; it is not an automatic promise that every date can be met.

## Your brief

1. List deliverables, task estimates, dependencies and the person responsible for each. Separate effort from elapsed time, especially when work waits on a client or another vendor.

2. Provide confirmed deadlines, working days, time zones and reviewer availability. Include a buffer policy you can justify rather than asking AI to hide uncertainty.

   ____________________

3. Record missing inputs and approval gates. Identify which date changes need client agreement and which work can proceed independently.

## Prompt

Create a project timeline from [scope, estimates and dependencies]. Show tasks, owners, prerequisites, effort, review windows and proposed dates. Highlight conflicts and unknowns. Do not invent team capacity or promise a fixed launch. Offer options for a missed dependency and distinguish draft planning from an approved schedule. Do not create calendar events or send reminders.

## Illustrative example

Illustrative project: copy approval must precede layout, and the client reviewer is unavailable for three working days. The timeline includes that wait rather than treating review as instant. If the requested launch cannot fit, it presents a reduced first phase or a later date for approval. It does not silently remove testing to preserve the original deadline.

## Acceptance checks

- [ ] Are dependencies, reviewer waits and actual working capacity represented rather than assumed away?
- [ ] Are proposed dates, confirmed commitments and unknown inputs clearly labeled?
- [ ] Does a delayed dependency trigger a reviewable option instead of an unapproved scope or quality reduction?

Do not cut authorization, testing or required review to make a generated schedule fit. Ask the decision owner to choose among scope, timing and resources, and record the approved tradeoff.
