# AI Client Discovery Questions That Clarify the Brief

An early client call should reveal what you need to deliver, not exhaust the client with a questionnaire. Give AI the brief you actually received and ask it to identify decisions that change the scope. Keep essential questions for the call and move implementation details into a follow-up checklist.

## Your brief

1. Paste the client’s stated goal and the exact deliverables mentioned. Keep their words separate from your interpretation; remove private contact details.

   ____________________

2. List what you already know about audience, deadline, existing assets, technical access and budget approval. Mark evidence separately from assumptions.

   ____________________

3. Set a meeting length and identify who can approve the work. Choose questions you can act on rather than collecting information without a purpose.

## Prompt

Read this client brief [brief]. Return five prioritized discovery questions. For each, explain which scope, risk or approval decision the answer changes. Do not ask again for facts already supplied. Separate must-answer questions before a quote from implementation questions for later. End with a plain-language recap I can ask the client to confirm.

## Illustrative example

Illustrative brief: ‘We need a website for our training business next month.’ A useful first question is whether visitors should request information or book and pay online; the answer changes the required service. Next ask who supplies course descriptions and which person approves launch. Asking for every preferred animation before those answers spends the meeting on lower-impact details.

## Acceptance checks

- [ ] Does each question point to a concrete scope or approval decision rather than ask for interesting but unused background?
- [ ] Have already answered questions and unnecessarily sensitive information requests been removed?
- [ ] Can the final recap distinguish confirmed facts, assumptions and items awaiting the client’s reply?

Do not treat an AI-inferred budget, technical stack or buyer persona as the client’s answer. Put uncertain items in questions. A polished discovery summary becomes dangerous when it silently converts guesses into requirements.
