# AI Text Message Responder: Draft Better Replies

An AI text message responder is most useful when it helps you say what you already intend, in a tone that fits the relationship. It should not invent commitments or pretend it sent a message. Paste only the context needed, explain the outcome you want and review the final reply before sending it yourself.

## Choose the workflow

1. **Give context without oversharing**

Replace phone numbers, full addresses and unrelated private details with labels. State who you are replying to, what they asked and what you can actually offer. A customer update needs different detail from a message to a close friend.

2. **Specify the boundary**

Tell the responder the maximum length, tone and commitments it must avoid. If a date, refund or appointment is unconfirmed, ask for a question rather than a promise. Request two alternatives if you are unsure how direct to be.

3. **Read it in the actual conversation**

Check the previous message, names, timezone and any implied agreement. Copy only the version that sounds like you. Drafting in chat does not grant access to SMS, calendar or email, and is not evidence that an action happened.

## Worked example

Fictional client message: “Can you send the final design tonight?” Your actual position: you can send a draft tomorrow at 10:00, and approval is still needed. A useful draft is: “I can send the next draft tomorrow at 10:00. Once you approve it, I can confirm the final delivery time. Would that work?” This is better than “Absolutely, it will be ready tonight,” because it preserves the real dependency. Add a timezone when the client may be elsewhere.

## Adapt this prompt

Draft two replies to this message: [redacted message]. Context: [relationship]. I can offer [confirmed option], but cannot promise [boundary]. Use [tone], at most [length]. Do not invent excuses, dates or actions. If a key detail is missing, ask one concise question. Return drafts only; do not claim the message was sent.

## Check before sharing

- [ ] The reply makes only commitments I can keep.
- [ ] Names, dates, timezone and quoted amounts are correct.
- [ ] The wording sounds appropriate to this relationship, not like a generic template.

## A mistake to avoid

Do not use AI to impersonate another person, misrepresent consent or fabricate a reason for a delay. A concise, truthful boundary usually works better.

This is a planning document, not a finished PPTX, image or video. AI tasks depend on current account access and usage limits.
